about me

Okay, here's the deal. (Repeated, since I already wrote this once and my HTML editor swallowed it up without a trace.) I'm not terribly good at sitting down and writing large articles carefully, planning and revising until the finished piece is precise, comprehensive, flawless. Instead I tend to just sit and write, letting words come out of the keyboard (interspersed with long periods of blankly staring at the screen, or getting pointlessly distracted by other amusements) until it feels as if I've reached the end.

In March 2003 I was trying to avoid Physics coursework and found a welcome distraction in the form of writing an About page for this blog. And since I was trying to avoid rather a lot of Physics coursework, I just allowed myself to keep writing and waffling and including many pieces of irrelevant information and stuff that would clearly be outdated within a month. Unsurprisingly, I never really got around to updating the information and so the page just sat there, growing ever and ever more obselete until I stopped looking at it altogether for fear of embarrassment.

So, I've taken it down. Well, down from this URL; there's still an archived copy floating about if you want to take a peek. In the meantime — and until I pull my act together enough to write a proper About page, you can look at my 100 things about me or take a look at my books page.

TTFN (ta-ta for now).
